Plumbing quote calculator for Canada
Choose your province and the right GST or HST is applied. Quebec adds QST automatically. Labour, materials markup and a service call fee in CAD.
How it works
- Labour = hours × people × hourly rate, plus any after-hours premium.
- Materials = your cost × (1 + markup).
- GST or HST is charged on the whole subtotal at your province's rate: 13% in Ontario, 14% in Nova Scotia, 15% in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and PEI, 5% GST everywhere else.
- Second tax: Quebec QST (9.975%) is filled in for you. In BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan the box starts at 0, because PST on renovation work is usually paid by the contractor on materials at purchase; enter the rate if your job is taxable.
You have to register for GST/HST once your taxable sales pass $30,000 over four calendar quarters in a row. Below that you are a small supplier and can leave GST/HST off. Your customer needs your registration number on the invoice to claim input tax credits.

Questions
Why is PST set to zero for British Columbia?
In BC, a contractor who installs materials into a home is usually treated as the end user of those materials: you pay 7% PST when you buy them and do not charge PST on the job. Some work, such as repairs to appliances or other goods, is different. Enter 7 if your job is taxable.
Does it handle Quebec?
Yes. Choose Quebec and the calculator charges 5% GST plus 9.975% QST on the subtotal, each worked out separately the way Revenu Québec expects them shown.
Can I use it for a hot water tank swap?
Yes. Put the tank in materials at your cost, add your markup and the hours. If your customer is moving off a rental tank, any buyout is between them and the rental company, so leave it off your quote.
