Plumbing quote calculator with GST
Call-out fee, labour, after-hours loading and your materials markup, with GST added so the price you quote is the price they pay.
How it works
- Labour = hours × people × hourly rate × (1 + after-hours loading). A 50% loading on a $110 rate is $165 an hour.
- Materials = your cost × (1 + markup).
- GST is 10% of the subtotal when you are registered. Untick the box if you are not.
- The total is what goes on the quote: under Australian Consumer Law a price to a consumer has to include GST.
You must register for GST once your GST turnover reaches $75,000 a year. Once registered, a business customer can ask for a tax invoice for any sale over $82.50 inc GST, and you have 28 days to provide it. A tax invoice shows the words "Tax invoice", your ABN, the date, what you did and the GST; from $1,000 it also needs your customer's name or ABN.

Questions
Should I quote inc or ex GST?
To homeowners, quote inc GST: the total price has to be shown. To builders and other businesses, many tradies quote ex GST and show GST on its own line. The calculator shows both.
How do I price an after-hours call?
Set the after-hours loading (50% and 100% are common for nights and Sundays) and the call-out fee you charge out of hours. The loading only applies to labour, not to materials or the call-out fee.
Does it include my licence number or ABN?
The calculator does not, because nothing you type is saved. The Plumber Kit quote and tax invoice have fields for both.
