Is flat-rate pricing better than hourly for plumbers?
Flat rate means the customer knows the price before you start and you are paid for skill, not slowness. Hourly protects you on jobs with unknowns, like old galvanized pipe. Most service shops use flat rate for common tasks and hourly for the rest. The price book lets you set both from the same hourly rate.
Do I charge sales tax on plumbing labor?
It depends on the state. Some tax repair labor, many tax only the parts, and on many real-property jobs the contractor pays tax on materials at purchase and charges none on the job. The quote lets you pick for each job; check your state's rules.
