Air conditioning install price calculator
Price split and ducted installs to the margin you need. Units, materials, crew hours and electrical in, an inc-GST quote out.
How it works
- Direct cost = indoor and outdoor units + materials (pipe, cable, brackets, drain) + crew hours × labour cost + electrical and other costs.
- Price = direct cost ÷ (1 − target margin).
- GST is 10% of the price if you are registered.
- The headline number is the inc-GST price, which is what you show a homeowner.
Anyone handling refrigerant needs a refrigerant handling licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARCtick), and the electrical connection needs a licensed electrician or a restricted electrical licence that covers it. GST registration is required once turnover reaches $75,000. If an electrician does your connections, put their invoice in the electrical line.

Questions
What does a split system install cost to quote?
It depends on the unit, the pipe run, the wall and the electrical. Back-to-back installs on a single-storey home take far less time than a long run or a second-storey outdoor unit. Price each from real hours rather than one flat rate.
Should I show the price inc GST?
Yes, to homeowners. Under Australian Consumer Law the total price, including GST, has to be shown. The calculator shows the inc-GST price as the headline.
Margin or markup?
Margin, because it tells you what share of every dollar you keep to run the business. A 35% margin is a 53.8% markup.
