- GST/HST
- 5% GST, or HST at 13% in Ontario and 14% to 15% in Atlantic Canada, once registered. Registration is required past $30,000 over four quarters.
- QST and PST
- Quebec adds 9.975% QST. In BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, installers usually pay PST on flooring they install into a home rather than charging it on labour.
- Condo rules
- Many condo corporations set minimum acoustic ratings for underlay. The quote has a line for the product the board approves.
- Quebec licence
- Flooring contractors in Quebec generally need an RBQ licence.

How many days should hardwood acclimate?
Follow the manufacturer; many engineered products ask for a few days in the home at normal living conditions. The job sheet records the dates.
Can I quote in square metres?
Yes. Enter metres and the takeoff still orders whole boxes in the units on the box.
What tax do I charge in BC?
5% GST if registered. PST is usually paid by you on the flooring material when you buy it, not charged on the installation.
