Built for how US electricians work

Per-device pricing that adds up

Residential electricians often price per opening: receptacles, switches, fixtures, circuits. The price book builds each per-device price from your hourly rate and the part, so the number always covers your time.

Permits and inspections, never missed

Rough-in, cover and final inspections across a dozen open jobs are easy to lose. One list shows what has passed and what is waiting on the inspector.

Service upgrades with the maths shown

The load calculator follows the NEC 220.82 optional method for dwellings, line by line, so the service size on your quote has its working attached. Your inspector still has the final say.

Tax and paperwork, done right

The US edition follows the rules that apply where you work.

Code edition
States adopt different editions of the NEC. Write the edition your jurisdiction enforces on the quote.
Licensing
Most states license electrical contractors. Many require the license number on bids, contracts and vehicles.
Sales tax
Labor on electrical work in a home is untaxed in most states, but a few tax it. Materials are often taxed at purchase.
Permits
Panel changes, new circuits and service upgrades almost always need a permit. Keep the fee as its own line.

Questions

How do electricians price per device?

Work out how long the device takes, including setup and cleanup, multiply by your hourly rate and add the part with your markup. A receptacle that takes 20 minutes at $110 an hour is about $37 of labor before the part.

What hourly rate should an electrician charge?

Enough to cover your pay, the truck, insurance, tools and the hours you cannot bill. The free electrician hourly rate calculator works it out.

Does the load calculator replace the inspector?

No. It lays out the NEC 220.82 optional calculation so you and the inspector can check it. Your jurisdiction's adopted code edition and the inspector decide the service size.
